This is the most unhelpful textbook I have ever used. Yes, it included all the significant personality theorists and theories, so as far as content goes, it's fine. BUT the explanations were so long-winded and convoluted that I couldn't understand some of the theories at all. I went away thinking I was just an idiot when it came to theories of personality, only to start looking at other textbooks and realize that no, the theories were perfectly within my understanding... when they were adequately explained.

This was my first foray into Junot Diaz and it was as painful as the title suggests. It's also pretty self referential which also stings.

Junior's relationships with the women in his life is a giant billboard for how people get trapped in the grooves and struggle to change in spite of their desire to do so. There's also an element of the external witness who sees Yunior's train coming vs. the internal Yunior who wanders along looking only at the tracks. He's always surprised each time he gets hit.

I really loved reading this book. There are some really funny laugh out loud moments and quite a lot of times I was sucking air through my teeth hoping for a different outcome and knowing it wouldn't change.

The book is also beautifully crafted with sharp, sharp descriptive and beautiful images of the world Yunior inhabits. I especially loved the descriptions of the women in Yuniors' life but all of the other characters, in particular his brother, are alive with depth.

I struggled with the Spanish along the way and ended up using google translate on my phone to read my iPad which worked well. Understanding the Spanish added a lot so I recommend taking the time to do that.

I'm looking forward to reading more Junot Diaz. Thank you as always to my friend for the recommendation.

Professor D. Larry Crumbley, PhD, CPA, CFF, CrFA is the KPMG Endowed Professor in the Department of Accounting, Louisiana State University. He has published more than 300 articles and authored more than 50 books. He is founding editor of the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting. Professor Crumbley is the organizer and first President of the AAA s Forensic and Investigative Accounting Section. Lester E. Heitger, PhD teaches in the School of Accountancy, Missouri State University. Professor Heitger has served as a forensic accountant and/or testified as an expert witness in more than 50 cases over a 25 year period. G. The content of the book is definitely sufficient for purposes of the class. However, there are significant issues with the formatting for the Kindle version. For example, there were many instances that my homework questions were formatted so badly that I didn't know what the question was.

Repackaged previous text

This book is essentially the author's previous book on water treatment with two new chapters on biological treatment. Some of the material from the former book has also been edited out. Unfortunately, the repackaging of the former book was not done carefully, and the new text is full of typos and errors. I would recommend the author's first book as a comprehensive text on water treatment, but do not highly recommend this book.
