This book is a devastating moral critique. It deserves to be read by all of us who believe we have a moral compass—and want to keep it true. Bandura begins by showing how our moral compass works. He builds this foundation, brick by brick, with solid research. Then he details the four mechanisms we use to engage or disengage our moral compass. When it’s engaged, we judge our actions against our values. When it’s disengaged, we feel good even when we behave badly.
The first section of the book reveals why Bandura is the most cited social scientist of all time. It opens so many new avenues of thought that it’s likely to launch a thousand doctoral dissertations. As with his book, Self Efficacy, Bandura has created an entire new field for study.
Once he has developed this powerful way of understanding moral disengagement, Bandura uses it to analyze several of the pressing moral issues of our day: the entertainment industry, the gun industry, the corporate world, capital punishment, terrorism and counterterrorism, and environmental sustainability.
These chapters are compelling. Bandura names names; he quotes from actual memos; and he details how cynical lobbyists, politicians, and others have weaseled their way away from moral constraints. Each of these chapters is a page-turner as well as an incisive analysis.
This book deserves a broad audience.

Kindle e-textbook of this is HORRIBLE!

By all accounts this book appears to be fabulous, HOWEVER, the Kindle e-textbook of this title is *HORRIBLE*!
The text is fixed, not resizeable or reflowable, and far too small a point-size at it's fixed default to be read -- and I like small text, this is nearly microscopic! The *font* used is _also_ HORRIBLE and unchangeable! -- Faint, Thin, and Gray in color. This is a PDF replica, NOT an "E-Book" per-say of any form, but/and would require a tablet-size device at minimum to be usable/readable. At $34. U.S. this is unacceptable RUBBISH!
