Love and Loss

This is a true story about the hardships in last century Ireland and how people managed to cope. I have extensive knowledge of the situation and found it quite accurate.

A story for the ages

I saw the movie and was intrigued by the story, I wanted to read about the life of Evelyn Doyle and see f it was as bad as I thought. Where I expected misery I found hope. This young girl who seemingly had lost it all ; father, mother, brothers friends, kept on going by her faith, not in god, but through her love for her father.
The movie was a good adaptation of the main facts of the story.There are many changes between the book and the movie but both are worth making the effort to see and read. Pierce Brosnan's touching portrayal of Desmond Doyle will warm your heart and test your resolve not to cry. The book moves along at a fair pace and I found it difficult to stop reading . It is a short story but it is a wonderful story that lifts a person;'s spirit. I will be reading this again and again.

Loved the movie but the book gave more details. A wonderful heartwarming story that reminds its readers that love with persistence rarely fails.
